Director of Operations

Objective:

The Director of Operations will provide strategic leadership and oversight to our manufacturing, warehousing, and maintenance sectors. This role is pivotal for driving excellence through LEAN manufacturing principles, ensuring our team is trained and held accountable, and setting the standard for efficiency and performance within our operations. Directs, Manages and administers, through subordinate supervision, the activities of the manufacturing, warehousing, and maintenance operations.

Work to be performed:

1. Strategic Leadership:
  • Develop and implement strategic plans that align with the company’s mission and objectives.
  • Provide leadership to ensure that all operations are compliant with industry standards, regulations, and certifications.
  • Define and implement innovative strategies to improve profitability, identify cost-saving opportunities, and drive revenue growth.
  • Foster a customer-centric mindset throughout the organization, focusing on understanding and exceeding customer expectations.

2. LEAN Manufacturing:
  • Lead the rollout and integration of LEAN manufacturing principles across all operations.
  • Continuously monitor, evaluate, and improve manufacturing processes to drive efficiency and reduce waste.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify areas for process improvement.

3. Operational Oversight:
  • Manufacturing & Workflow: Oversee all facets of manufacturing, warehousing, and maintenance operations to ensure smooth and efficient workflow throughout the departments.
  • Quality Assurance: Implement and uphold stringent quality control measures, ensuring that all products meet the company’s high standards and industry regulations. Continuously monitor and strive for excellence in product quality, taking swift corrective actions when deviations occur.
  • Production & Delivery: Monitor production schedules, quality control, and delivery commitments to guarantee timely and accurate delivery of products to clients.

4. Team Development & Training:
  • Establish training protocols to ensure all staff are equipped with the required skills and knowledge.
  • Promote a culture of continuous learning and improvement
  • Up-skilling & Continuous Learning: Champion staff development programs and continuous learning platforms tailored to the industry & demands, ensuring employees are equipped with the latest skills and knowledge.
  • Mentorship & Career Pathing: Foster a culture of mentorship, and in collaboration with HR, delineate clear career paths, promoting internal growth and leadership development.
  • Feedback & Evolution: Implement regular feedback mechanisms, facilitating constructive dialogue with employees to continually adapt and enhance development initiatives based on their needs and aspirations
  • Evaluate team performance, identify gaps, and implement training or coaching sessions accordingly.

5. Accountability & Performance Metrics:
  • Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) for all operational departments.
  • Monitor, report, and drive accountability based on set KPIs.
  • Conduct regular reviews to assess operational performance, and develop action plans for improvement.

6. Staffing & Resource Management:
  • Develop and execute staffing plans to meet operational demands.
  • Collaborate with HR to recruit, train, and retain top talent.
  • Manage budgetary concerns related to operations, ensuring optimal resource allocation.

7. Collaboration & Communication:
  •  Foster strong cross-functional relationships within the organization to drive synergy and collaboration.
  • Act as the main point of communication between operations and senior leadership.

8. Safety & Compliance:
  • Ensure all operations adhere to safety protocols and industry regulations.
  • Regularly review and update safety guidelines and procedures.
  • Ensures adherence to company policies and procedures, customer requirements and specifications, and government regulations.

9. Other:
  • May perform other related duties as required by the company.

Job Working Conditions:

Involves a busy working environment with frequent contacts throughout the day; psychological environment is such that it may involve periods of (extreme some occasional continuous) stress and mental pressure due to minimal room for error or need for extreme accuracy; accuracy and problem solving are critical; involves decisive action and decision making in conjunction with senior Company officials; critical thinking in examining and reengineering operations and/ or procedures, for formulating policy and or developing and implementing new strategies and procedures

Education / Experience:
  • Bachelor degree in Engineering, Operations Management, or a related field. Master degree is a plus.
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in operations leadership role in the aerospace sector.
  • Proven track record in LEAN manufacturing principles and their successful implementation.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.

Qualification Assessment: Ongoing informal observation/assessment of work performance provides continuing evidence of capabilities and proficiencies.

Salary Range: $135-150k
