Welder/Fitter

Role Essentials:

• Working in a safe manner and complying with all health, safety and environmental guidelines/regulations as they pertain to welding equipment, abrasive cutting tools, oxy-fuel cutting tools, and other essential fabrication equipment.
• Ability to understand and follow welding procedures and customer specifications, including the interpretation of standard weld symbols.
• Fabricating assemblies using engineered drawings and blueprints within customer tolerances in metric or imperial units. These tolerances may be as restrictive as +/- 1/16”. The fitter/welder must have knowledge of fitting/welding structures in order to maintain these tolerances in the as-welded condition.
• Working knowledge of various types of welding processes, base metals, filler metals, welding parameters, preheat, post heat and, inter-pass temperature requirements.
• Ability to perform CJP, PJP, and fillet welds to meet stringent NDT requirements without the need for repairs.
• Familiarity with material traceability requirements through all stages of fabrication.
• Safely rigging and hoisting materials in a shop environment using overhead/jib cranes.
• Following the direction of the Welding Supervisor to ensure products conform to specifications.
• Ability to work effectively in a growing team environment.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Minimum 5 years’ experience fitting or welding in a large/heavy custom steel fabrication environment.
• Extensive experience working to welding codes including CSA W59, AWS D1.1, and ASME Section IX.
• Extensive experience with GMAW, FCAW, MCAW, SMAW, and GTAW required. Additional consideration will be given to applicants with SAW experience.
• Strong verbal communication skills in the English language.
• Strong basic math skills as they relate to drawing or blueprint interpretation.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Preference will be given to those who hold current and valid qualifications in accordance with
  • CSA W59 in the following processes and materials:
• MCAW/FCAW carbon steel, carbon steel to stainless steel, stainless steel.
• GMAW carbon steel, carbon steel to stainless steel, stainless steel.
• SAW carbon steel, carbon steel to stainless steel, stainless steel.

Salary Range: $28-30/hr
