Quality Manager

Overall Responsibility

 Develop and maintain the Quality Management System to assure that all manufactured products meet or exceed customer specifications
 Investigate and evaluate data to provide feedback on current and new product performance
 Work with the plant’s resources and customers to provide an ongoing source of quality and product performance information
 
Keys Tasks and Responsibilities

 Maintain and continuously improve the Quality Management System (ISO9001)
 Develop and maintain procedures to define and ensure conformance to customer requirements
 Responsible for the review and approval of new and revised test procedures and equipment
 Recommend, establish and implement procedures and techniques for establishing new or revised standards, inspection methods and process controls
 Implement quality awareness programs and develop systems to track and report results
 Coordinate all aspects of both internal and external customer complaint systems (including root cause investigation, determination of all preventative actions, follow up to ensure preventative actions are properly installed)
 Interact with customers, plant, sales, customer service and corporate on quality issues
 Develop overall department objectives and direct report objectives that are concise, measurable, in-line with Corporate targets. Continually assess performance against targets
 Plan, promote and organize training activities related to product quality and reliability
 Ensure product safety and compliance with applicable regulatory requirements
 Facilitate and control ISO documents
 Facilitate product transfer process, both incoming and outgoing
 SCAR facilitation - assemble information, issue and follow-up on supplier SCAR’s
 Oversee Technical Center management, including equipment and computer maintenance, supply inventory and capital purchases along with coordination of work flow, supporting requests submitted by manufacturing, product development and quality departments
 Maintain resin information
 Demonstrates awareness of and follows all food safety policies and procedures
 Familiarity with and adherence to the Quality Management System (QMS)
 Support Key Departmental objectives and our QMS
 
Skills and Attributes

 Proven ability to manage/lead direct reports to achieve established goals/targets
 Excellent organizational skills with ability to complete multiple projects simultaneously in a fast paced manufacturing environment
 Strong written and verbal communication skills.  Able to present findings with recommendations to senior internal personnel as well as customer base
 Excellent problem solving and software skills
 Statistical analysis, SPC, 5S and DOE development & execution
 Time management
 Adaptive and proactive approach to daily occurrences
 Friendly social disposition
 Scientific/analytical approach to problem solving and equipment use
 Some travel required.  Must have a valid passport
 Demonstrate strong supervisory and conflict resolution skills
 
Experience Required

 University Degree, College Diploma or equivalent experience
 Minimum 3 years experience in a quality role, ideally with a packaging manufacturer or converter
 Food/pharmaceutical industry experience is an asset
 Exposure to ISO & QMS/food safety programs

Salary Range: $80-90k
