Program Manager

Objective: Administers, under general direction, the development, preparation and negotiations of assigned portions of a major program contract.

Work to be performed:

1. Analyzes customer and company policies, philosophy and procedures relative to requirements for bid, statements of work, proposals, contract amendments and similar documents applying the area of responsibility within a major program.
2. Defines what work should be undertaken, develops an overall objective and recommends company and customer aims and objectives for assigned area.
3. Evaluates master plans and schedules, specifications, material and labour cost estimates,  statements of work etc.; integrates this into overall bid proposal for review by supervisor.
4. Negotiates contractual commitments for assigned project. Receives technical and/or administrative assistance from other company personnel on phases of contracts pertaining to their specific field of endeavour.
5. Prepares operations directives for implementation of contractual obligations. Reviews and evaluates customer requests for changes or revisions to contracts and evaluates and coordinates engineering change proposals for assigned area of responsibility. Investigates and reconciles significant contract changes.
6. Works in conjunction with concerned company organizations and customer to assure conformance with contractual obligations to remain cognizant of problem areas and to institute the required corrective actions
7. Provides technical and/or functional direction to lower graded personnel working on portions of assignments.

Responsibility Involved:

Works with general guidance and direction to achieve objectives; establishes own method of performing duties in accordance with pre-determined requirements and goals.

Job Working Conditions:

Occasional extended walking in plant environment may expose to somewhat disagreeable factors due to exposure to noise, dust, heat, fumes etc, but such that they are not continuous; sedentary working environment and computer utilization; involves a busy working environment with frequent contacts throughout the day; psychological environment is such that it may involve occasional periods of stress.

Work Requirements
  • Environmental conditions are of regular or recurring exposure to disagreeable elements with respect to dirt, dust, grease, oil, temperature, distractions, multiple demands, poor ventilation, verbal abuse, and/or noise.
  • Hazards are of minor risk of injury, harm or illness with respect to the likely potential of injury, harm, illness, infectious disease involving chemicals, fumes, smoke, machinery, equipment or threat of violence.

Skills needed:
  • Able to organize work; motivate self; work within time constraints.

Education / Experience:
  • Equivalent 4 years high school plus
  • Completion of 2 years of post secondary or prior experience with demonstrated capability to perform the above duties and responsibilities

Qualification Assessment:
  • Ongoing informal observation/assessment of work performance provides continuing evidence of capabilities and proficiencies

Salary Range: $90-100k
